This semester also included one of my favorite classes I have ever taken in my college career. The class was American Music. This was my first music history course that wasn't a general survey, and I left each and every lecture inspired and challenged to learn more. It was fascinating to see the rapid growth of music in our relatively young country, and it really changed how I see classical music's place in American culture. I plan on writing about this a lot over the next few months to get some of these thoughts out of my head and organized.
Needless to say, I am enjoying laying back and taking a break. My wife and I cancelled all the activities we could and committed to really getting ourselves refreshed and re-energized. Happy New Year to you all! May it be your best one yet!
